New Affordable Housing Opens in Oakland

Oakland’s Eastlake neighborhood is welcoming a new housing development near Lake Merritt. Sen Lake, located at 121 E. 12th Street, is celebrating its grand opening this week and brings 91 new affordable housing units to the community.

Developed through a partnership between East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC), Jordan Real Estate Investments, and The Unity Council, Sen Lake provides long-term affordable rental housing for individuals and families with lower incomes. The development includes studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes.

Of the 91 units, 67 are permanently affordable homes for households earning between 30% and 60% of the area's median income. Another 23 units provide permanent supportive housing for people who are currently or formerly experiencing homelessness.

A Transit-Friendly Location

Sen Lake is designed as a transit-oriented development, putting residents close to Lake Merritt, neighborhood businesses, schools, community services, and public transportation. The project is also within walking distance of the Lake Merritt BART station and several AC Transit routes.
